Clubhouse Groundbreaking
The City within a city, Havelock City ceremonially launched the official commencement of construction of its multi-storeyed unique clubhouse complex, scheduled for completion by October 2012.Designed to take full advantage of the panoramic view of the 6 acre roof garden and the surrounding of the eight residential towers which will eventually comprise Havelock City, the Club House itself will be on the roof garden. This four storied complex would have a total built up area of 40,000 square feet. Havelock City, which is the second mega real estate development project in Sri Lanka under the aegis of Overseas Realty Ceylon (ORCL) whose spearhead is renowned Singaporean real estate entrepreneur and business tycoon S P Tao, is Sri Lanka's largest real estate investment to date at US $350 million. Construction cost for the Havelock City Club House is estimated at US $4 million, with concept and design credited to East China Architectural Design & Research Institute (ECADI) China, who are also architects for the entire of the project.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Club House which began with religious ceremonies had among its distinguished gathering many government officials as well as those already resident at Havelock City. This much anticipated construction phase is designed as the main space for social activity to be used exclusively by the residents of Havelock City. A multi-purpose hall, function rooms, state of the art gymnasium with sauna, swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, dedicated children's swimming pool, restaurants, a lounge and Day Care center will comprise the Club House complex, while the Club House itself, is the largest Club House of any condominium development in Sri Lanka. The environs, designed to infuse tranquility and relaxation vis a vis cascade and bamboo pools, water features and fragrant, spice and kitchen gardens, also have a large playground, a children's play ground and an open air exercise corner which all introduce multiple options to enhance lifestyle habits.

Speaking at the conclusion of the groundbreaking ceremony, Pravir Samarasinghe CEO of Mireka Capital, the company tasked with the development of Havelock City, affirmed that the Havelock City project will be completed by 2015. "This 17 acres of prime land with its maximum connectivity to all key road in Colombo city promotes the unique feature of a city within a city concept. It is also the single largest cleared site within Colombo which inculcates mixed development of residential, retail and office users within one project. Havelock City, when complete, will ultimately have eight residential towers comprising 1,080 apartments, two office towers of 26 floors each and Sri Lanka's most modern and largest shopping mall constructed on six levels, all destined to transform the skyline of Colombo City." He also explained that Phase I is already completed with Park and Elibank Towers already in occupation, while Phase II, which encompasses two more towers begins construction in October 2011 and is billed for completion in thirty months. "Construction of the shopping mall and office towers will begin in 2012 and will take three years to complete, while, December 2015 will see the completion of both Phases III and IV, which will be the final four towers."
