Havelock City Donates Temple Complex
New SamaVihara Temple Complex
Group CEO of Overseas Realty Mr. Pravir Samarasinghe, Defense Secretary Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapakse and Venerable Professor Bellanwila Wimalaratana thero gracing the ceremony
SamaVihara is set to receive a new temple complex; a donation by Chairman Mr. S P Tao. The construction commencement ceremony was held recentlyamidst a large gathering with Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse gracing the event as chief guest. The temple is to be complete with all elements; a stupa, statue, and a sacred bo tree would also consist of dormitories for monks, individual rooms, meeting rooms, halls to conduct sermons and host almsgivings, and dormitories to house workers.
Upon ensuring sufficient land was donated to the Vihara, when Overseas Realty and Bank of Ceylon took over the 17-acre land as a joint venture to develop the Havelock City project, Mr. Tao also accepted the noble deed of constructing a new temple complex for SamaVihara. He is thankful to the Chief Incumbent of SamaVihara Venerable Atapattukande Ananda Thero for bestowing him with the opportunity to commence construction of the temple on the year of the 2600 SambuddhatthawaJayanthi.
Group CEO Overseas Realty Pravir Samarasinghe commented at the ceremony that the donation of the temple was keeping in with the philosophy of contributing towards the community and the cultural heritage under the company’s many corporate social responsibility initiatives.
